Paul
Massaro, FOH engineer for the Brazilian Girls. "CAD mics are all over the stage with Brazllian Girls. The C195 for the vocals, is smooth, the kick drum mic is fat, the Trion 7000 ribbon mic on the keyboards through the guitar amp is amazing, and the e70 overhead is like having a studio mic on stage." Gregg
Mann, FOH engineer, is currently on tour with John Legend.
He has also worked with Alicia Keys. "I use the Trion 7000 ribbon mic on the electric guitar, it works very well for us in concert. The C195 sounds far superior to the Shure 58 microphone, it's a condenser that gives you a full-range sound. I use the M177's for miking John Legend's piano, it has very good cancellation on the back side, so I don't get a lot of reflection from the top of the piano, with great coverage from the sensitive side. For drums, we use the equitek e70's for the high-hat and overheads, I found that this microphone gives me nice highs but a very good mid-range for the entire kit. Check out CAD microphones, you won't be sorry." Click here to view video (7MB). |

Toby
Francis is the FOH engineer currently on the 2006 world
tour with Guns 'n' Roses. He has also worked with Jane's
Addiction, ZZ Top, and Puddle of Mudd. "We're using the Trion 7000 ribbon mic on Richard Fortus, guitar. and what we instantly liked about it was how natural the mic sounded. It needed much less eq. Basically everything that was on the channel we took off and it sounded better like that than what we were using before. It's an incredibly natural-sounding microphone."
